In my opinion, it’s never too early to start talking about Christmas. I’m one of those people who starts buying Christmas presents in September and starts her Christmas wish list on Jan 2nd.

One of the best parts about Christmas time (apart from all the food and presents) is the socialising! There are meals with old school friends, work Christmas parties, extended family meals – the lot!

Deciding where to go is one of the tricky parts. So many restaurants and bars out there offer Christmas menus and deals. The Copper Clam is one of them.

The Copper Clam opened two years ago and have recently renovated their restaurant. Located in the Regency Arches, you can see the original brickwork from when it was used to home fishing vessels for fishermen! The interior is gorgeous and rustic and during the summer you’ll be able to look out onto the seafront through the massive windows upstairs.

Along with the renovation, they added their own cocktail bar upstairs where cocktail mastermind Julien holds one to one masterclasses for group bookings from as little as £10pp!

Create Your Own Cocktail

I was invited down to The Copper Clam with a small group of foodies from Brighton. We each got to spend time behind the bar with Julien creating our own cocktails. Julien asks you what you like, your favourite spirits and flavours and helps you create a drink for YOU. I went for a rum based cocktail with Julien’s own juniper syrup and passion fruit liquor. It was delicious and such fun.

He also kept the drinks flowing, ending the night with shots that tasted just like strawberry starbursts. Dangerous!

House Wines

If you’re not into cocktails then they have a great selection of wines and beers on offer. We got to try their house wines which they pride themselves on. In most restaurants the house wine is the cheapest option, but The Copper Clam have chosen wines they genuinely love and they taste great. I don’t really drink red but this one was very drinkable.

Christmas Menu Specials

Its probably about time I mentioned some of the food we tried. After all those drinks, we were in dire need of some food to sober us up.

We were given some tasters of their new Christmas Menu specials and also some of their new restaurant specials. All were absolutely delicious, with my favourite being the octopus with saffron and mash potato. Probably because of my love of mash.

New Menu Specials

We also tried some dishes from their new menu which they’ve definitely stepped up a gear. Josh and I visited during the summer of their first year and the food was amazing but the choices were fairly limited. The options available now are fantastic!

Verdict 

I had a lovely evening at The Copper Clam. The staff made us feel welcome and it was amazing to hear how they locally source their ingredients and the passion behind their new menu. It’s a great place to spend your Christmas meals and in the summer you had to head down for some fish and chips by the sea!
