It’s been a while since we’ve had a Cranes Cider. We first discovered their Cranberry Ciders at the Brighton Foodies Festival a few years back. The idea was fairly new back then. A cider made with cranberries instead of apples.
The cranberry cider was born out of a love of drinking and a love of cranberries. The founders Dan and Ben started fermenting Cranberries after university and it took them about 8 months to crack the recipe. The name Cranes comes from the fact Cranberries used to be called Crane-Berries – who knew?!
Cranes Drinks have gone through a re-brand and I personally love the new look. It just feels so much more sophisticated than the previous bottles. You can have a read of our review from a year ago here and compare the two!
We were sent their three flavours; Cranberries & Limes, Blueberries & Apples and Raspberries & Pomegranates. They used to do an Original flavour, which we tried last time we reviewed, and we didn’t really like it. It’s great to see brands taking on customer feedback and constantly improving their product.
When we decided to crack these open, I went straight for the Cranberries & Lime as I’m a massive fan of Strawberry & Lime ciders. Sadly, this one didn’t really meet my expectations, I think it needed a little bit more citrus.
The Raspberries & Pomegranate on the other hand is amazing. By far the best of the three flavours! Josh and I were fighting over who would finish off the last of that bottle. The Blueberry and Apple is really good too, super refreshing.
We definitely enjoyed our Cranes Drinks, I love their new branding on the bottles and the flavours have definitely stepped up. It’s such a nice change to have a cranberry cider instead of an apple based cider and we’ll be picking up another few bottles at the next Foodies Festival!
