Review: V & H Cafe | Jess & Josh Cook

I first heard about V & H Cafe when I saw The Wee Food Blogger post this photo on Instagram, how ridiculously good does that breakfast look?! You can read her full review here, but we couldn’t help but rave about it here too!

We headed down on the morning of our house move for a hearty breakfast to set us up for the day and loved everything about it.

I must have walked past this cafe at least 50 times as it’s on my way to work, but its exterior is a little inconspicuous so I’d never noticed it. The interior is pretty basic, with wooden tables and chairs but I quite like how simple everything is.

We ordered a coffee and orange juice before deciding what to have for breakfast. Their coffee is really good and supplied by Roasted of Brighton and the orange juice was freshly squeezed, bits and all.

Their menu is pretty simple and everything is gluten free by default, Josh was a bit wary of this because he thought it would affect the taste but thankfully you really couldn’t tell.

I opted for the beans on toast with sausages which doesn’t sound too fancy but it’s definitely been given a Brighton twist. The beans were homemade and the sausages were a) gluten free and b) super juicy and tasty, both on sourdough toast.

Josh went for a brunch muffin (gluten free) with bacon, sausages, egg and emmental cheese. One of the best things about the muffin was that the egg was perfectly cooked, which a lot of places don’t nail and the underneath is usually a bit burnt.

We’ve moved just around the corner now so I think we’ll definitely be popping down regularly for brunch and breakfast, and obviously you should too!
