Galentine’s Day 2016 | Jess & Josh Cook

Galentine’s Day 2016 | Jess & Josh Cook

If you’ve never seen Parks & Recs then first of all, what are you doing with your life? Stop everything right now and start watching it, seriously.

It’s a day created by Leslie Knope where girls get together and celebrate each other by giving gifts, eating waffles and just basically having a big old Treat Yo’ Self day.

Cate and I celebrated Galentine’s day on the 11th instead of the 13th because it’s Cate’s birthday on the 13th and we all know we’ll be way too hungover to move let alone leave the house.

We started the day off at Gelato Gusto for coffee and waffles. I’d never had a waffle until then and I feel like I’ve been missing out big time. Cate had the Leslie Knope classic of cream and chocolate sauce and I had vanilla ice cream with banana and toffee sauce. Amazing, but definitely the most indulgent breakfast I’ve ever had.

We then went into town to do some clothes shopping and well and truly treated ourselves, both of us spending way too much money. Always worth it though!

We then went to Pitcher & Piano for cocktails and chose the pinkest drinks on their menu to fit the theme of the day. A cosmopolitan – obviously – a rhubarb and strawberry cooler and a cherry whisky sour. We were fairly drunk by the end of it.

Then it was about time we eat again to sober ourselves up so we headed to The Hobgloblin to¬†finally¬†try a Troll’s Pantry burger.

I didn’t even glance at their meat options because all of the veggie options just looked so delicious. I went for The Heathen which is a bean and vegetable patty with cheese and chipotle mayo on a bed of slaw.. the best burger ever!

So next year, why don’t you and all your gal friends get together and celebrate being badass bitches for Galentine’s day? It’s a great excuse to tell people how much they mean to you and treat yourselves!
