Jamie Oliver’s Mustard Chicken with Dauphinoise Potatoes

We’re a big fan of Jamie Oliver’s recipes and have cooked everything we liked the look of from his 15 minute meals so we recently invested in his 30 minute meals cook book.

I think realistically, it’s a bit of a push to do the majority of the recipes in that time – especially if you don’t have all the fancy kitchen gadgets – but we always give it a go regardless.

Tonight we decided to do his Mustard Chicken with Dauphinoise potatoes and greens. Jamie suggests you also do black forest affogato but we skipped that because we still have half a key lime pie left over from Thanksgiving!

The chicken and the sauce that goes with it were both really tasty, neither of us would add or change anything to those. The potatoes on the other hand are another story.

Thirty minutes just wasn’t long enough! They’re cooked on the hob for 15 minutes and then in the oven for another 15 minutes, but I’d recommend (if you have the time) to stick to the regular method of baking in the oven for around an hour.

They came out pretty bland, with some of the the potato not thoroughly cooked through and the cream was still very runny – I must confess I did throw a bit of a strop about it because I was looking forward to them so much!
